Cheston was born and raised in San Jose California. He practices clinical Social Work (CSW-I) and acquired his master’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. His heart is in the Bay Area but he has come to appreciate the Biggest Little City and considers Reno home.

Cheston works with individuals, couples, and families on various presenting concerns. He is committed to helping clients reach their full potential, achieve their goals, and obtain overall well-being. His therapeutic approach uses techniques from various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). His approach focuses on combining core mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation to heal, obtain optimal mental health, and build a functional life of purpose.
 
Cheston’s specialties also include treating substance abuse patients. He received a minor in substance abuse through UNR’s Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies and performed his clinical internship at Ridgehouse, a transitional living program aimed at reintegration for those struggling with addiction problems.
 
Cheston spends his free time raising his son. They bond over basketball and movies and travel the world in search of delicious and exotic foods.
