LCSW
Trent Mahler, LCSW, is a dedicated therapist at Healing Minds, specializing in helping clients overcome challenges and achieve personal success through evidence-based therapeutic approaches. With a background in athletics and a passion for mental resilience, Trent integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support individuals in navigating life’s complexities and optimizing their mental well-being.
Born and raised in Concord, California, Trent pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2016 while competing as a middle linebacker for the Wolf Pack football team. His experiences in athletics reinforced his understanding of mental toughness, discipline, and psychological resilience—principles he now helps his clients apply in their own lives.
Motivated by a passion for helping others, Trent returned to UNR to earn his Master’s in Social Work in 2021. His clinical training included internships at The Eddy House, where he worked with at-risk and homeless youth, and True North Treatment Center, where he developed his therapeutic expertise with a diverse clientele. Following graduation, he worked as a therapist in both the Dual Diagnosis and Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Programs at West Hills Behavioral Health Hospital until its closure.
In addition to his role at Healing Minds, Trent is committed to shaping the future of mental health care. He serves on the Board of Directors for High Sierra AHEC, working to improve access to healthcare education and services. He also teaches at the University of Nevada, Reno’s graduate school, mentoring and training incoming therapists as they prepare to enter the field.
At Healing Minds, Trent takes a client-centered and results-driven approach, creating a space where individuals feel empowered to grow. By integrating CBT to reshape thought patterns, DBT to enhance emotional regulation, and EMDR to process trauma, he helps clients develop resilience, clarity, and confidence in their journeys.
Outside of his professional work, Trent enjoys Reno’s balance of community and outdoor adventure. Whether hiking, exploring Lake Tahoe, or enjoying the city’s year-round sunshine, he values staying active and connected to the environment.
Through his work at Healing Minds, his contributions to mental health education, and his leadership at High Sierra AHEC, Trent is dedicated to helping individuals unlock their full potential.
