CARYN RUBIN

LCSW

A native of Illinois, I moved to Reno after 35 years in Southern California. Ready to make a change, I moved to Reno; I love the change of seasons and the strong sense of community. I love the fact that the people here are very welcoming and friendly. As the city grows, so does the need for experienced mental health providers. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana and, after raising my children, went to California State University, Long Beach, for my MSW. I had been very active in organizational community services, and saw a great need for helping a somewhat invisible population of aging adults. I parlayed my interest and experience into offering therapeutic support and case management in different venues, most recently in home health, hospice and palliative care. I have provided individual counseling and group support to adults, and believe that talk therapy in a safe, nonjudgmental atmosphere can be life changing. My professional mission statement is to continue working with adults in the areas of life transitions, divorce support, aging issues, bereavement support, pain issues and chronic illness.
