Bertrand Ithurralde, CSW-I
Originally hailing from Central Nevada, Bertrand is an avid UNR Wolf Pack fan and a therapist at Healing Minds. Bertrand considers himself semi-retired. Although he works full time as he enjoys things like electricity, food, shelter, and needed funds for necessary adventures. Over the past twenty years, he has been a teacher, clinician, program manager, clinic director, business owner, state worker and hospital worker. He has also been a field instructor for several schools of social work. He received his Graduate degree in Social Work (MSW) from University of Nevada Reno in 2008. Bertrand has a love for history, and a Degree in History from UNR as well.
Bertrand’s clients include children, adolescents, families and adults. Bertrand has worked in community mental health settings, state mental health teams, acute care hospitals, inpatient psychiatric facilities, child and family agencies, community health, mental health advocacy organizations, addiction treatment programs and private business. He utilizes a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy,Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, behavior modification, mindfulness and relaxation.
Bertrand believes in working in partnership with clients, utilizing their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. He also realizes how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being including their physical health, support systems (family, friends), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process.
