Colleen Maheux, MFT
Colleen received her Masters Degree at the University of Nevada, Reno and has been working as a therapist for over 12 years. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Colleen has many years of experience working with a wide range of clients — folks with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, Bipolar, etc.
Though raised in Simi Valley California, Colleen has been living in Carson City/Reno area for 22 years. Colleen is in love with Lake Tahoe, and being so close to the most beautiful lake in our country brings her great joy. Colleen has been drawn to people’s stories since childhood, namely autobiographies. She enjoys reading and hearing people’s journeys through life, and how people have navigated through the good and bad times throughout their lives.
Colleen is a lifelong learner and has several areas of interest and training, with a particular interest in substance abuse and anxiety disorders. While she tailors her methods to the needs of her clients, her extensive experience has shown that an effective process begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust and understanding. Through empathic listening she creates a safe, therapeutic environment where her clients can face life’s challenges, understand themselves better, and live fuller and more satisfying lives.
